We would hereby like to inform the public and membership on the successful completion of the first part of training in swimming and scuba diving as an integral part of the project titled "Continuation of psycho-physical rehabilitation and social reintegration of mine victims and families of mine victims through water sports" conducted by the Association Eco Sports Group Sarajevo.
Members of the Eco Sports Group carried out these activities on pools of Sarajevo, from 14 to 16 January 2011, and Tuzla, from 21 to 24 January 2011. The activity was attended by 46 mine victims and their families out of the planned 30, which has once again demonstrated the interest of our target group for this type of activity.
In addition to these sport activities on January 24, 2011, we also held the planned workshops on "the importance of sports in rehabilitation of mine victims" at which Dr. Dragana Ivkovic from Belgrade held a presentation for the participants in which they could hear about the favorable effects of sports on the overall health of people, with special emphasis on the benefits of water sports.
This project is supported by the Office for Humanitarian Demining of U.S. Government, through the implementation agency ITF, within the overall mine action in BiH which is coordinated by BH Mine Action Centre (BHMAC).
